For 2025, updates to the BMW 7-Series focus on infotainment and driver assistance features. Pricing and Which Model to Buy
The bmw 7 series 2025 starts at $97,575 and goes up to $122,475, depending on the trim and features.
- 740i – $97,575
- 740i xDrive – $100,575
- 750e xDrive – $108,175
- 760i xDrive – $122,475
The 740i offers a smooth, powerful inline-six engine, ideal for most buyers. For those craving extra power, the 760i xDrive delivers a robust twin-turbo V8. If you plan to be chauffeured, consider adding the Executive Lounge package for reclining rear seats with massage and the 31.3-inch Theater Screen entertainment system. The electric i7 version is reviewed separately.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The base 740i features a 375-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine paired with a 48-volt hybrid system. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive (xDrive) is optional.
The 750e xDrive plug-in hybrid pairs the same inline-six with an electric motor, delivering 483 hp. At the top, the 760i xDrive boasts a 536-hp twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 with standard all-wheel drive and a 48-volt hybrid system.
During testing, the 760i xDrive impressed with smooth performance and muscle-car-level acceleration, reaching 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. While we haven’t tested the 740i, BMW estimates it will hit 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
The 7-Series also features standard air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and adaptive dampers, providing agility despite its size and prioritizing comfort over sportiness.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
The 750e xDrive plug-in hybrid is expected to deliver over 35 miles of electric-only range before the battery needs recharging, according to BMW’s claims.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe
The EPA rates the 740i at 25 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, with all-wheel drive slightly lowering city efficiency to 24 mpg. The 760i xDrive with its V8 engine sees a more noticeable drop, achieving 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. In our 200-mile real-world fuel economy test, the 2023 760i xDrive impressed with 30 mpg. While we haven’t tested the 740i yet, we’ll update these results once we do. For more details, visit the EPA’s website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
As BMW’s flagship sedan, the 7-Series pampers its occupants with unmatched luxury. High-quality materials like premium leather, stainless steel, wood trim, and even optional cashmere upholstery create a refined and elegant interior. The design is on par with competitors like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, offering cutting-edge style and supreme comfort.
Passenger space is generous, especially in models equipped with the Luxury Rear Seating package, which includes power-adjustable reclining seats, massage functions, a wireless charging pad, and neck cushions. The trunk provides ample storage for a full-size luxury sedan, with a rear-seat pass-through to accommodate longer items like skis.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The 7-Series shares its dashboard design with the BMW iX SUV, featuring a sleek digital gauge cluster and infotainment touchscreen under a single glass panel. The displays are highly configurable, with crisp visuals and fast responsiveness. Standard is BMW’s latest iDrive 8.5 infotainment system, capable of over-the-air updates to ensure the software stays current.
Rear passengers can enjoy the optional Theater Screen, a massive 31.3-inch display that drops from the ceiling. Using a built-in 5G connection, it allows streaming services like Netflix or web browsing, controlled via touchscreens embedded in the rear door panels.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
The 7-Series comes with advanced driver-assistance technology, including an optional hands-free highway driving mode and a smartphone-controlled parking assistant. For crash-test results, visit the NHTSA or IIHS websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
- Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.
- Available adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode.
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
BMW offers exceptional coverage for the 7-Series, including a three-year/36,000-mile complimentary maintenance plan—a perk absent from rivals like Audi and Mercedes-Benz. While the Genesis G90 matches the maintenance plan and offers longer warranties, the 7-Series stands out in its class.
- Limited warranty: Four years or 50,000 miles.
- Powertrain warranty: Four years or 50,000 miles.
- Complimentary maintenance: Three years or 36,000 miles.
